During a 1-on-1 video call, SWAG requires permission to access your device's camera and microphone so the streamer can see and hear you.
If you see prompts like "Camera permission required" or "Microphone permission required," it means the permissions are not enabled yet. Please refer to the following steps to troubleshoot and configure your settings.
๐ก Quick Tip: When accessing video features for the first time, your browser or system will usually display a pop-up window. Choosing "Allow" is the quickest way. If you accidentally tapped "Don't Allow" or didn't see the pop-up, follow the manual setup steps below.
๐ Step 1: Identify how you are accessing SWAG
Different access methods require different paths to adjust permissions. Take 5 seconds to identify your access method to save troubleshooting time:
Mobile App: No address bar visible โ Refer to [1. Mobile App]
Home Screen Shortcut (PWA): Launched from a home screen icon, full screen, no address bar โ Refer to [2. Home Screen Shortcut (PWA)]
Desktop Browser: Opened via Chrome, Edge, Safari, etc., on a computer, address bar is visible โ Refer to [3. Desktop Browser]
Mobile Browser: Opened via Safari, Chrome, etc., on a phone, address bar is visible โ Refer to [4. Mobile Browser]
1. Mobile App (iOS / Android)
๐ฑ iPhone / iPad
Open device Settings.
Scroll down and tap SWAG.
Toggle both Camera and Microphone to ON (green).
Return to the SWAG App and re-enter the video call.
๐ค Android
Open device Settings โ Apps.
Locate and tap SWAG.
Go to Permissions.
Set both Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Return to the SWAG App and re-enter the video call.
2. Home Screen Shortcut (PWA)
If you added SWAG to your home screen via a browser shortcut, permission settings work differently than standard apps:
๐ฑ iPhone / iPad Home Screen Shortcut
iOS has stricter controls over camera permissions for home screen shortcuts. Permissions may not be remembered persistently, and a dedicated SWAG switch might not appear in Settings. Try the following:
Check System Settings: Open Settings โ Scroll down to Safari โ Ensure Camera and Microphone are set to Ask or Allow.
Restart Shortcut: Fully close the SWAG shortcut (swipe up from the app switcher), then reopen it from your home screen.
Re-authorize: Re-enter the video call and tap Allow when the permission prompt appears.
๐ก If it still doesn't work, we recommend opening SWAG directly via the Safari browser for better stability, or deleting the home screen shortcut and adding it again.
๐ค Android Home Screen Shortcut
Long-press the SWAG icon on your home screen โ Tap App Info (or go to Settings โ Apps โ SWAG).
Tap Permissions.
Set Camera and Microphone to Allow.
Fully close SWAG and reopen it.
3. Desktop Browser
๐ Chrome / Edge (Windows & Mac)
Click the Page Settings icon (slider icon, or lock icon on older versions) on the left side of the address bar.
Find Camera and Microphone.
Switch both settings to Allow.
Refresh the webpage. (If you don't see these options, go to Browser Settings โ Privacy and security โ Site settings, and ensure swag.live is not blocked under Camera or Microphone.)
โ ๏ธ For Windows Users: Please also check system permissions. Go to Windows Settings โ Privacy & security โ Camera / Microphone, ensure camera and microphone access is turned ON, and that your browser is allowed to access them.
๐ Safari on Mac
With the SWAG page open, click Safari in the top menu bar โ Settings (or Preferences on older macOS versions).
Switch to the Websites tab.
Select Camera and Microphone on the left menu, and set swag.live to Allow.
Refresh the webpage.
โ ๏ธ For Mac Users: Go to Mac System Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Camera / Microphone, and confirm your browser is allowed access.
4. Mobile Browser
๐ iPhone Safari
Go to Settings โ Scroll down to Safari โ Set Camera / Microphone to Ask or Allow. Return to the SWAG webpage, re-enter the video call, and tap Allow when prompted.
๐ Other Browsers on iPhone (e.g., Chrome)
On iOS, permissions for third-party browsers are managed under each specific app:
Open device Settings.
Scroll down and tap your browser (e.g., Chrome).
Turn ON Camera and Microphone.
Return to the browser, refresh the page, and select Allow when prompted.
๐ค Android Chrome
Tap the Page Settings icon on the left of the address bar (or the โฎ menu on the top right) โ Permissions โ Set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then refresh the page.
โ Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting
I allowed access, but there is still no video or audio.
Try refreshing the webpage or fully closing the App/Browser and reopening it (PWA shortcuts don't have a refresh button; please swipe it away from background apps and reopen).
Ensure no other apps are currently using your camera or microphone (e.g., Zoom, Line video calls, or default camera apps).
Desktop users should make sure external webcams and microphones are properly plugged in and powered.
Why didn't the permission pop-up window appear? Your browser may have saved your past preference as "Block." Follow the manual steps above for your specific device to set it back to "Allow."
Is it normal to see a green or orange dot at the top of my mobile screen? Yes, this is a security feature built into iOS and Android: the green dot indicates the camera is active, and the orange dot indicates the microphone is active.
